So after the festivities of Koh Phangan and the full moon party its time to rest and take it easy right... ya sure, who are we kidding! Railay is a short highway jaunt even further down the Thai coastline, except this time we actually venture to the west coast, your first taste of the Andaman Sea and Indian Ocean! Located just an hour from Krabi, Railay is a small peninsula that is accessible only by boat and allows the inner-adventurer to come out in people if they so desire. Renowned for its world-class rock climbing, Railay offers some of the best instructors in the world to get you started, or if you have already climbed before, some of the most challenging and absolutely breathtaking ascents you could ever imagine. However, if heights just aren't your thing Railay offers much more than just rock-climbing. Railay arguably boasts some of the nicest beaches in Thailand, and when combined with the fluorescent blueish-green water, this location boys and girls is where photographs become infamous. Feel free to relax on the gorgeous white sand, rent a pair of fins and explore the nearby coral reef which hosts thousands of species of marine life, or for the first time on the trip just lay a towel out, grab a beverage of your choice (lets be honest, its Thailand you will be having more than one) and simply bask in the Southeast Asian sun. Be sure to ask tour guide Andy Anderson about another special 'exploring' activity that he will be more than willing to share with you where he had an authentic "National Geographic" experience. Railay also hosts various barbeques every night where the catch of the day is displayed on a bed of ice (we won't tell you what it usually is, but lets just say Jaws would not be too happy...) and the seafood is incomparable to anywhere else. Railay truly is the hidden gem of your trip. Railay Beach is a destination on the following OMB trips:
