Kanchanaburi

Trickle down to Erawan Waterfalls for breathtaking views overlooking seven separate tiers of falls. Keep a tight grip on your camera as you capture some unforgettable sights or the monkeys will swoop by and snatch what they can. You'll want to ensure you stay friendly with all the Thai animals as the following day we visit Tiger temple, where you can find lions and tigers and bears, oh my Buddha! This Buddhist temple sits on pristine land, founded over a decade ago as a sanctuary for local and exotic wildlife. Watch the monks handle the tigers and try your own hand at walking and petting the striped savages. If that's not enough you might even get the chance to greet a real bear-be sure to ask tour guide Andrew about his own 'intimate' experience with a brute named Bam Bam.

Next we'll venture down to the Death Railway and the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai (exactly from the novel and movie). Check out the museums to learn how this integral Japanese railway was built using forced labour from local and foreign prisoners of war, and then visit the memorial buddhist caves in remembrance of the tens of thousands who perished in its construction. This architectural marvel will astound you in both its grandeur and devastation.

Reflecting on the visuals of the impressive Kanchanaburi landscape we return to the city centre to treat your other senses. The nightlife of this eccentric community offers the perfect introduction to authentic Thai partying! Check out the Bob Marley bar or the local nightclub featuring awesome live western music. Sample your first of many buckets while you hang out with the friendly locals and experience what Thai hospitality is all about.
